Large tear-shaped paisley motifs scatter across a deep black base in amber gold and crimson red, each one filled with a different interior block print pattern, floral sprigs, leaf forms and geometric fills that make every motif distinct from the next. The paisleys sit at varying angles across the body, some upright, some tilted, giving the all-over print a natural irregularity that prevents the surface from reading as a rigid repeat.
The spacing between each motif is deliberate. The black ground shows through generously between paisleys, giving the deep base equal presence alongside the colour. The amber and crimson together on black create a warmth that reads as festive without being bridal.
The wine border carries a narrow Ajrakh-style block print band in terracotta and gold before a plain wine zari finish closes the edge. The pallu deepens the composition with a larger block print panel of circular medallions and geometric borders in the same warm palette on the black ground, a denser arrangement than the scattered body.
Modal gives Raatri its movement. The fabric falls in clean natural folds without stiffness, holding the deep black colour with an even surface that makes the amber and crimson motifs appear as if lit from beneath. Block printing is a hand-stamping tradition where carved wooden blocks are pressed into fabric in careful placement to build scattered or repeat compositions using mineral and vegetable dyes.
