Fabric Guide
The Fabric Guide
Most sarees look similar in photographs. The difference is in your hands - the weight, the drape, the way it feels at the end of a long day. At Koshnika, fabric is the entire point.
Our Six Fabrics
Modal
If you wear sarees regularly and want one that cooperates - Modal is where to start.
Made from beech tree pulp - a natural fibre twice as soft as cotton and far more breathable than polyester or art silk.
Chanderi
Chanderi drapes with authority. It does not demand attention - it earns it.
Woven in Chanderi, Madhya Pradesh for over six centuries. Known for its lightness, subtle sheen and crisp pleat.
Tussar Silk
Tussar carries the memory of the forest it came from. There is nothing quite like it.
Also called Kosa silk, from wild silkworms in the forests of Jharkhand and Bihar. Natural grain and earthy lustre.
Bamboo Silk
The fabric for women who want comfort and beauty in the same six yards.
Made from natural bamboo fibre with a soft sheen and smooth drape. One of the most skin-friendly saree fabrics today.
Viscose
The quiet achiever - versatile, beautiful, and always underestimated.
Semi-synthetic from natural wood pulp, with a silk-like drape. Holds Madhubani art, florals and block prints beautifully.
Self Jacquard
For the woman who knows that the best details reveal themselves slowly.
A woven fabric where the pattern is created by the weave itself - visible only as light moves across it.
