The Name
Koshnika comes from the Sanskrit word Kosh - meaning treasure, cocoon, and keeper of things of value. A cocoon that protects. A treasure that lasts. That is what every Koshnika saree is built to be. The name was chosen for its phonetic neutrality - understood across every Indian language and region.
Why We Started
Indian women have always known the difference between a saree that looks good in a photo and one that feels right on the body. The fabric. The weight. The way it drapes at 8 AM and still holds at 8 PM. Koshnika was started for the woman who reads the label, who asks what the fabric is before she buys, who wants craft she can feel - not just a price she can screenshot.
What We Make
Sarees in Modal, Chanderi, Tussar, Bamboo Silk, Viscose and Self Jacquard - each fabric chosen for how it wears, not just how it photographs. Madhubani-inspired prints drawing on Bihar's Mithila tradition. Bandhani-inspired patterns drawing on Gujarat's resist-dye heritage. Block print motifs drawing on Rajasthan's craft tradition. Every saree comes with a blouse piece, is quality-checked before it leaves us, and is dry wash only - because real fabric deserves real care.
Where We Are Going
We started with sarees. We will not stop there. The ten-year vision for Koshnika is a full Indian women's wear brand - blouses, kurtis, workwear, bridal accessories - built on the same foundation. Real fabric. Real craft. Real education about what you are wearing and why it matters. But first, the saree. Done right.
