Vegan Silk Sarees

A viscose saree — what we call vegan silk — falls with much of the fluidity of real silk and takes print colour better than almost anything else we work with. Viscose is a fibre regenerated from wood pulp. No silkworm is involved at any stage.

Why it holds print better than most. The surface is smooth and absorbent, so fine line work stays legible and block colour stays even. It is the reason our Kalamkari line drawings and Madhubani motifs sit as cleanly on this fabric as on anything else.

How it wears. Light, cool and fluid rather than structured — the saree follows the body instead of holding its own shape. Best draped with a fitted blouse and a firm petticoat, since the fabric gives you very little architecture on its own.

Care. Viscose weakens when wet. Dry clean where you can; if washing at home use cold water, never wring, and dry flat in shade. For a wider view of fabrics, see our guide to Indian saree fabrics.

Every saree arrives with a matching unstitched blouse piece. Free shipping across India, cash on delivery available.
