Kalamkari Sarees

A Kalamkari saree is defined by its line. Kalamkari takes its name from the kalam, the pen — a bamboo stick wrapped in cloth, dipped in fermented jaggery and iron filings, and drawn freehand across cotton. The tradition belongs to Andhra Pradesh, principally Srikalahasti and Machilipatnam, and it is one of the few Indian crafts where the drawing itself is the whole point.

Pencil Kalamkari refers to the finer end of that vocabulary — thin outlines rather than block-filled colour, with florals, creeping vines and paisleys left largely open. Our sarees carry Kalamkari-inspired line work printed onto vegan silk and cotton-blend bases, which keeps the drawing crisp and the saree affordable.

Who these suit. Anyone who prefers outline to fill, and detail to volume. A Kalamkari saree reads quietly from across a room and rewards a closer look — a good match for daytime occasions and understated festive wear. On the base cloth, see our vegan silk sarees.

Every saree arrives with a matching unstitched blouse piece. Free shipping across India, cash on delivery available.
