Gaja Tussar Madhubani Print Saree Ivory
Description
Elephant and peacock Madhubani on raw Tussar silk. Charcoal border.
Elephants march in procession along the borders. Peacocks spread their tails at the centre of large medallion compositions. Chevron bands in terracotta, teal, olive and dusty orange stack between the animal motifs, building a surface that reads like a festival wall painting from a Mithila home. The ivory Tussar base gives every colour room to sit without competition.
The pallu carries the largest composition, a full peacock medallion surrounded by elephant procession borders and geometric fill bands, the kind of illustration that draws a second look from across a room. The charcoal border runs the full length, precise and undecorated, letting the print carry all the weight.
This is a saree that tells a story every time it is worn. The woman who wears Gaja does not need jewellery to be noticed.
Tussar silk from wild silkworm cocoons woven in Jharkhand and Bihar carries a natural slub texture that gives the ivory base a warmth no mill fabric can match. The irregular weave absorbs Madhubani print with depth and clarity, making the earthy pigment tones appear richer against the natural ground. Madhubani animal and nature compositions from the Mithila tradition use continuous line work and flat colour to build mythological and everyday narratives across fabric and wall.

About Tussar Silk — the fabric
Tussar is woven from wild silk cocoons gathered from forest trees in Jharkhand and Bihar. Its natural slub — a slight, irregular texture — is the signature of real Tussar; no mill fabric can copy it. It takes print with depth, breathes well, and ages beautifully with wear.
Care: dry wash only, dry in shade.
